Legacy to Sailing

The leading footwear, apparel and accessories brand, Sebago, has announced that they will be supporting SolentXtra, the new identity of the race management team established to run world class sailing events.

SolentXtra is set to become a true legacy of the process implemented by the RYA to establish world class race management teams. It has grown to its present status as a direct result of that process. The team is now regularly involved in World, European and other very major events that occur in the UK and abroad.

All 27 members of SolentXtra will be supported with a comprehensive supply of both Sebago apparel and footwear to assist with their day to day work wear whilst on the water and ashore.

The team has been built by Robert Lamb, an ISAF International Race Officer, after initially being asked to run the Tornado Class racing during the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in 2007.  Robert has ample experience across Olympic classes, dinghies, yachts and windsurfing having run racing at 9 ISAF Sailing World Cup Events, 12 World Championships, 6 European Championships and 19 National Championships.

Sebago will also be looking to extend support for this Sailing Race Management team after 2012 as a clear extension of legacy and assisting the future of sailing race management.

Robert Lamb, ISAF International Race Officer, is understandably proud of the achievements of his team.  He commented:
