Italy. Ingemar new floating pontoons from Mediterranean to Red Sea and Persian Gulf

In Monaco, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, floating modules by the Milan-based maritime engineering company are constantly in demand

Commercial and tourist developments plus regeneration of foreign coastlines, particularly in emerging countries, have rewarded Ingemar's marketing commitments, diversification and project innovation. Their all-concrete pontoons, maxi floating breakwaters and the new heavy-duty aluminium pontoons have been the protagonists of many installations and resulted in a brilliant second semester for the company.

Mont-Carlo: Installation is nearly completed of the new reinforced concrete 'All Concrete' floating elements for the reconstruction project of the old pontoons in the western part of Port Ercule, Monaco: Ingemar's modules with very high displacement have such great performance levels that they can be integrated into traditional fixed structures.
The project, promoted by SEPM (Société d'Exploitation des Ports de Monaco) who administer the principalities' ports, forms part of a radical modernisation and enlargement project of Monaco's port, which includes installation of new pontoons for 220 boat moorings up to 25 mts in length, arranged over 6 fingers, for an overall surface area of 425 mts.
As far as quality and the specific requirements of the project are concerned, the new pontoons will have platforms, fixtures and fittings of the highest quality.

Croatia: Further enlargment of the great Kornati marina at Biograd, the yachting hub of the Kvarner Gulf, and two new projects (at Lussin Piccolo for BSK Commerce, and at Split for the Split Yacht Club), are Ingemar's most recent assignments working together with Marmontis d.o.o., their partner for the Croatian and Montenegrin markets.
Here the pontoons are equipped with galvanised steel structures, walkways in exotic hardwood and floating units in reinforced concrete with expanded polystyrene cores: this is a design which ensures very particular characteristics of layout flexibility and performance such as overload of the freeboard.

Montenegro: Pontoons and fixed and floating piers for Porto Montenegro at Tivat.

In only three years since the inauguration of Porto Montenegro it has become a highly popular elite yachting destination in the southern Adriatic, mainly due to the beautiful surroundings, its attractive residential buildings and the port's services.

The promotion of a new "Montecarlo of the Adriatic" is coming to fruition and cooperation with Ingemar, supplier of floating pontoons and all the mooring pontoons, has continued with the installation of new floating modules in the great yachts harbour for the May 2012 Boat Show, as well as additional structures to ensure the necessary autonomy of moorings as part of the additional services by the Marina.

Greece: Installation of floating pontoons on Salamis Island has been completed and the paperwork is nearly finalised for the construction of new pontoons (delivery on site has already taken place) to enlarge Zea Marina at Piraeus.

New cooperation with Asprokat (the Greek prefabricated construction company) to produce pontoons in Greece, will see the first results at the beginning of next year with the installation of all-concrete floating pontoons in the Port of Koronisia, in the Gulf of Preveza and close to the island of Lefkas.

Notwithstanding the current economic difficulties in Greece, Ingemar and ITI (their local partner) are convinced that the country will realise that yachting tourism and construction of new marinas will be an important and valuable factor in the recovery of local economies.

Turkey: 6 mt wide floating breakwaters at Port Gocek in the Gulf of Fethiye.

As part of the reorganisation and modernisation of the marina by its new owners, D-Marine (part of the Dogus Group), Ingemar has been assigned the task of supplying a turnkey floating breakwater barrier, 340 mts x 6 mts width, which will be operative by the end of 2012. This new structure, to replace the existing ones, will have dimensions and a capacity to lessen wave motion having been laboratory tested on models - unique in the sector. Protecting the marina will be floating modules which today can be described as having the greatest weight, height and freeboard currently in production on the International market: 120 tons, 6 mts width by 20 mts length, 2.4 mts height and a good 80cm freeboard over the water. The new modules wil be anchored by deadweights to the sea floor at up to 35 mts depth, using an innovative system based on that used by the great ocean platforms. A series of cables made of dineema® (with extremely high resistance and minimum distension under pressure) will substitute the traditional steel chains, ensuring maximum stability and constantly high safety factors of the breakwater.

Jordan: on-site construction of pontoons for the new Marina on the Red Sea has begun. The Ayla Oasis Development Company is building a new tourist and residential resort at Aqaba in southern Jordan and which will radically transform the appearance of the region. This colossal project, the objective of which is to offer a luxurious alternative to other popular resorts on the Red Sea, such as Sharm el Sheikh and Hurgada, will cover a surface are of approximately 460 hectares overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba.

Ingemar has been commissioned to produce the final project design and to construct all the floating structures and anchorage systems which will form the tourist port and the mooring docks close to the Ayla Project residential complexes. The pontoons and fingers, for an overall surface area of over 7,000 sq mts and roughly 3 kms in extension, will be in aluminium alloy supported by unsinkable floating units in concrete and expanded polystyrene, finishings in eco-friendly exotic hardwoods and anchored to the seabed by fixed pilings.

Saudi Arabia: two new customised landings for the Coast Guard

The previous floating structures, installed in 2002 for the Kuwaiti Coast Guard headquarters, and Ingemar's marketing efforts to participate in the difficult Middle Eastern market, were crucial in acquiring this new and important commission for the Saudi Coast Guard.

The landings are distinguished by their extreme simplicity of installation, regardless of the sea bed conditions, and maximum operational resistance even in locations which are not entirely protected. The floating modules are only fixed to land by a system of connecting rods and cables; the structures are in heavy duty aluminium alloy with floaters in concrete for the pontoons and polyethylene for the fingers. The landings are modular and can be reassembled: each basic module has dimensions for mooring 6 fast reconnaissance vessels.

Kuwait: work at Khiran Marina is in its final phase

Ingemar has been present in Kuwait for more than 10 years, mainly in the floating pontoon sector for special applications (moorings for naval and service vessels); the company has formed a reliable organisation as well as tried and tested partnerships with local companies. Khiran Marina, one Kuwait's foremost yachting and port resources, is situated 100 kms south of the capital and is one of the country's most important tourist ports.

For the marina's complete reorganisation, Ingemar has been assigned the executive design project and responsibility for construction of all the floating structures and moorings. The new pontoons, all supplied with fingers, will provide moorings for about 300 boats of between 8 and 30 mt lengths - mainly motor boats, which are the most popular craft locally, as well as the traditional deep-sea fishing boats. Construction of the components (1,500 mts of pontoons and 1,850 mts of fingers) with steel structures, floating units in reinforced concrete and finishings in exotic hardwood, has been assigned to local companies with Italy supplying only the more specilised accessories: this is a tried and tested solution aimed at minimising costs but maximising synergy with the local Kuwaiti economy.

For over 30 years Ingemar has been designing and building pontoons and floating breakwaters worldwide and today is one of the few companies in the sector having its own independent production facilities which allows it to carry out Research and Development in order to anticipate market demands. The ISO 9001 certification for design, construction and installation testifies to its constant dedication and commitment to quality and is complemented by the SOA certification by the port sector for commissions of up to Euro 15.5 million.
