Team Maclaren update from ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami

Monday, 28 January 2013

Hello Everyone! It has been a long time since our last blog. I apologize; we took some time off to regroup but the racing season is here and now Team Maclaren are getting ready to start racing tomorrow morning in the ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami event.

Since the last match race event we did in September, we all have been up to different things, occasionally sailing, but mostly focusing on other activities.Molly has been running the Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation. It is a youth program for youths aged 8-18 and includes racing anything from Optis to 420's to 29ers to high school sailing. Deb has been up north getting into her CrossFit and working at her ice cream store and family business. I have been doing the Extreme 40's, and getting into serious training for my CrossFit.

But as I said, we have been occasionally sailing. Through December, Deb and I did some training in the 49erFX while Molly was recovering from ankle surgery. Molly has been back in the boat now for two weeks as we prepare for this up-coming regatta. Although her ankle is strong, we are going to play the regatta by ear and not risk re-injuring it by doing something silly. This past week, however, was encouraging as we were able to put in a few longer days with no pain so we are 'fingers crossed' for the regatta.

The forecast is calling for strong winds all week which will make the racing fun and fast. You will be able to follow along on the regatta website to track our progress. Tomorrow's racing starts at 11am.

Sail Hard,

Anna
