Cruising Club of America Annual Awards Dinner at New York Yacht Club in Manhattan

On Friday, March 1, 2013, the Cruising Club of America (CCA) celebrated its outstanding sailors of 2012 at the Annual Awards Dinner at New York Yacht Club in Manhattan. CCA Commodore Daniel P. Dyer, III presented the following four awards:
Blue Water Medal
David S. Cowper (center) accepts the 2012 Blue Water Medal from Cruising Club of America Commodore Daniel P. Dyer, III (left) and Awards Chair Bob Drew (right) for his completion of six solo circumnavigations of the World and five solo transits of the Northwest Passage.
Rod Stephens Trophy
Thomas B. Crawford (right), Master of MV Mokihana, accepts the 2012 Rod Stephens Trophy from Cruising Club of America Commodore Daniel P. Dyer, III (left) for outstanding seamanship in the rescue of Derk Wolmuth and his 31-foot Vindo sailboat, Bela Bartok, during the 2012 Singlehanded Transpacific Yacht Race.
Far Horizons Award
Karyn (left) and Stephen (right) James accept the 2012 Far Horizons Award from Cruising Club of America Commodore Daniel P. Dyer, III (center) for a commendable ten years and 38,000 miles of cruising.
Richard S. Nye Trophy
Brin R. Ford (left) accepts the 2012 Richard S. Nye Trophy from Cruising Club of America Commodore Daniel P. Dyer, III (center) and Awards Chair Bob Drew (right) for his contributions to the Club in the form of meritorious service.

About the Cruising Club of America
The Cruising Club of America is dedicated to offshore cruising, voyaging and the “adventurous use of the sea” through efforts to improve seamanship, the design of seaworthy yachts, safe yachting procedures and environmental awareness. Now in its 90th year, the club has 11 stations throughout the U.S., Canada and Bermuda, with approximately 1200 members who are qualified by their experience in offshore passage making.
