Yamaha Presents the Second Annual Wilmington Boat Show September 8-10

Friday, 18 August 2017

Greenville, SC (August 8, 2017)  JBM & Associates, veteran boat show management company, announce the 2nd Annual Wilmington Boat Show to be held September 8-10, at the Port City Marina, the Shell, Wilmington Convention Center and Battleship NC.  “We are thrilled to be partnering with our presenting sponsor Yamaha Motor Corporation to be bringing the Wilmington Boat Show back for the second year. With their support, the show will be even bigger this year with sold out docks and exhibit space. We had to add additional space due to high demand after the success of last year’s show,” said JBM President and show creator Jacqui Bomar.

The Wilmington Boat Show will feature more than 85 different boat lines including skiffs, cruisers, sailboats, fishing boats and yachts.  It will be the marine marketplace for water sports, gear, apparel and fishing accessories. The show will span the entire Port City Marina docks, the large pier called the Shell, the lawn of the Convention Center and the exhibit hall and meeting rooms. One unique feature is the demo docks where people can do sea trials. Down the Riverwalk from the Convention Center, the Cape Fear Community College’s Boat Building School will be open for show visitors.

“Being the Presenting Sponsor of the Wilmington Boat Show provides Yamaha yet another opportunity to promote and demonstrate the power of our V6 and V8 outboards,” said David Ittner, Tournament, Sponsorship and Pro Staff Manager, Yamaha Marine Group.  “The increased growth from last year is in direct response from our customer’s participation and excitement in this market.”

A huge portion of the show is across the Cape Fear River at Battleship NC. This space not only hosts nautical exhibits, but will have a festival –type atmosphere with bands, Bombers Beer Garden, and children’s features including the Hook the Future Kids Fishing Clinic with Captain Don Dingman. Every child who attends his clinics gets a free rod and reel.

Wilmington Water Tours will be ferrying people back and forth between the Battleship and the Marina again this year. “One of the favorite elements of the show was the ability to go back and forth for free. People could park on either side of the River and attend the entire show, plus get a cool ferry ride,” said Bomar. The Battleship offers free parking for show attendees.

The Wilmington Convention Center will host boats and marine related exhibitors as well as the Wilmington Fishing Expo, on-going fishing seminars sponsored by Coastal Carolina Fishing.

“We waited a long, long time to bring this show to Wilmington and if the success of the first show is any indication, we expect more than 15,000 people to attend this year’s show.  This has a major economic impact on Wilmington and surrounding towns, especially as it continues to grow annually. People came from all over the country to exhibit and attend last year,” said Bomar.

This year’s show will kick off with a Preview and Party under the stars, Thursday, September 7, from 6-9 at VIDA Restaurant overlooking the Port City Marina. Blackfinn Ameripub will cater this special evening.  The cost for a VIP ticket is $50 and includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, two drink tickets followed by a cash bar, one complimentary boat show ticket to be used anytime during the show. “We want to open this up to the public because there are huge boating fans in this market who will love the opportunity to see the boats at the Marina first, and enjoy the perks of this special event,” said Bomar.

The Wilmington Boat Show is Presented by Yamaha Motor Corporation and sponsored by RAM Truck/Neuwirth Motors, Gulfstream Yachts, Allstate Boat Insurance, Maritime Insurance International and ILM. The VIP Party is sponsored by Epic Finance and Marathon Specialty Finance. Water ferries are sponsored by Wilmington Water Tours.

The Show will open at Noon on Friday, September 8, and close at 6pm; Saturday, September 9, from 10am-6pm and Sunday, September 10, from 10am-5pm. For information please visit www.WilmingtonBoatShow.com . Contact Erica Allen for exhibit space information. [email protected].  864-250-9713.
