The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2008 show opened today at the magnificent Sanctuary Cove resort on Australia’s Gold Coast. Sunny, warm conditions welcomed show goers and exhibitors alike. 

Mr Barry Jenkins, Sanctuary Cove’s general manger  said “It is fantastic how the show has grown over 20 years to now hold a place as a leading marine event in the Asia Pacific region”, he also said that “the on-water displays alone stretch 5.23Km”. There are 455 exhibitors with 127 world and Australian releases.

A super show is expected, however, in light of uncertainty in economic conditions Mr Bill Barry Cotter, Australian marine icon commented “Tough times are ahead for the industry, particularly the manufacturers” during this morning official opening ceremony.

Riviera yachts, a significant manufacturer launched its world release of its luxurious Riviera 61 and its 38 Open fly bridge motor yachts, with CEO Wes Moxey commenting, “Our new models are well accepted in all markets worldwide”.

The diversity and innovation at the show is evident and BYM News will be bringing you a mixture of photographs, video and reports over the four days of the show ranging from World releases to the trusted products and services that every marine enthusiast relies upon.

The show was officially opened by Mr Bill Barry Cotter who predicted “tough times ahead for the industry particularly the Australian manufacturers”.

International delegations including those from Japan, Korea, Thailand and India, with support from the Queensland government.
398 on-water boats, with a couple delayed on a transporter from out of the USA
A massive total of 5.2km of boats stem to stern. ..
Pre-ticket sales 9 x that of last year’s “latest and greatest, here”, most of that was online sales.
