Asian Championships and Games: Hobie 16 to be multihull used in China, 2010

Friday, 03 July 2009

The Asian Championships and Asian Games have now agreed that the multihull they use will be the Hobie 16 in China, 2010.

The Asian Games is the second largest sports event in the world after the Olympic Games, comprising half the world's population. In July the Hobie 16 will be used in the ISAF Youth Worlds in Brazil. September the Hobie 16 will be in the Pacific Mini-Games in the Cook Islands. July 2010 Puerto Rico will host the Central America and Caribbean Games with the Hobie 16. Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico (with sailing in Puerto Vallarta) in the summer of  2011 have also chosen the Hobie 16. The list keeps growing. We have nearly three quarters of the world population choosing the Hobie16/multihull in THEIR regional championship. Yet the multihull was voted out of the Olympics. With the multihull growing into countries that have never sailed multihull before it is encouraging the multihull is growing.
