Germany. 25th European Autumn Gas Conference to be hosted by RWE Supply & Trading
Wednesday, 25 November 2009
Germany, the second largest gas market in Europe and a major hub for supplying pan-European markets, is to stage the 25th European Autumn Gas Conference (EAGC), Europe’s longest running annual gas conference. RWE Supply & Trading is proud to be the official host of the EAGC 2010 which will be held in Berlin in November 2010 (dates tbc).
“The choice for Germany reflects the country's relevance among the European gas markets - giving the EAGC a stronger association with Germany than with any other country,” says Jason Franks, Managing Director, dmg world media (uk) ltd.
“EAGC was last held in Berlin as natural gas was arriving after the fall of the Wall; and, more recently, proved to be a record-breaker when staged in Düsseldorf in 2007.”
“With a 2008 consumption of around 86 bcm, Germany is the second-largest gas market in Europe after the UK. It is also at the centre of many of the most important developments in the Continental European gas market as trading activity in Germany is increasing impressively. In 2008 the market saw some 35 bcm traded at the two main hubs - up from less than 1 bcm in 2005.”
“We are looking forward to working with the RWE Supply & Trading team to ensure great success for our ‘silver anniversary’ event. Our Executive Advisory Board, drawn from the highest levels of the European gas industry will be meeting in the coming months to plan a memorable and highly relevant conference, held shortly after the start of the ‘gas year’.”
“We were excited to hear that the EAGC is coming back to Germany - and we are proud to be host sponsor of the 25th Anniversary event” says Stefan Judisch, CEO of RWE Supply & Trading. “RWE and its growing gas business have strong roots to Germany, but at the same time our pan-European activities provide us with a strong position also in the UK, the Netherlands and Central Eastern Europe. The 2010 EAGC will thus be the ideal platform to continue the dialogue on Europe’s energy future. We will be able to share views and news on such important topics as the Nabucco and other pipeline projects or the development of the LNG business in northwestern Europe. 2010 will most certainly be a very important year for Europe’s gas future and RWE Supply & Trading is proud to not only work on Europe’s energy future but to also be able to host one of the major conferences during the year - the EAGC 2010 in Berlin.”
EAGC 2009
This year’s EAGC, currently (24-25 November) being held in Bilbao, Spain hosted by Naturgas Energía and EDP Gás - both members of the EDP Group - with Eni and Galp Energia as Associate Sponsors, has attracted some 300 of the senior members of the gas industry from all over Europe and further afield.
EAGC 2009 has seen the introduction of new features including technical tours, a pre-event workshop from Gas Strategies, and the wrap-up ‘LNG in the Round - an LNG Roundtable’ to an already highly successful annual event including a compelling conference with the theme “Independence and Interconnection in European Gas“, and the all-important and traditional networking events such as the Welcome Reception hosted by Diputación Foral de Bizkaia (Regional Government of Biscay) and the Gala Dinner at the Guggenheim Museum hosted by Naturgas Energía and EDP Gás.
