Giant trimaran IDEC of Francis Joyon capsized during Atlantic attempt

Monday, 22 August 2011

Whilst sailing approximatly 20 miles off the coast, the giant multihull IDEC was hit by a sudden violent gust and overturned. The trimaran was rigged with 3 reefs in the main and an ORC forward. Ideal for the 25 knot winds in the sector at that time.

Joyon was in touch with his router, Jean-Yves Bernot, and the security service allerted.

Francis Joyon is well and a tug boat is on the way to render assistance and recover the craft.
