Fire Controlman 3rd Class Ryan Cushing, from Englewood, Fla., mans a .50-caliber machine gun as part of the small craft action team aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) as the ship transits the Dardanelles Strait. Ross is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
