The Grand Villa at Royal Phuket Marina with private attached yacht berths of 70 metres – ideal for the multi yacht owner and inviting friends with yachts.
Imagine stepping directly from your villa onto your yacht, turning the key and within minutes being in one of the best cruising grounds in the world. This is Phuket. This is Royal Phuket Marina, where a collection of luxury waterfront villas – each with direct access to their own private yacht berth – are offering yacht owners the ultimate in luxury, unavailable anywhere else in Asia for yachts and villas of this size and luxury.
Dubbed the marine playground of Asia and destination of choice for more than 50 superyachts annually, more and more Asian boat owners are choosing Phuket to berth their yachts, benefiting from the Island's ease of access with more than 40 daily international flight connections.
According to a recent survey by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), intra-regional travel is expected to be a key trend in 2015. The Asia Pacific region is expected to welcome 547 million visitors, an increase of 33 million on 2014, and China is expected to play an increasingly dominant role with over 40% of new regional visitors coming from China alone.
According to Mr. Gulu Lalvani, Chairman of Royal Phuket Marina, this trend in the growth of travel within Asia Pacific, and in particular the increase in travel by Chinese nationals within the region is something already being experienced in the marine and luxury travel sectors.
“We have seen a considerable increase in enquiries from yacht owners within the region wishing to berth their yachts at Royal Phuket Marina. Marine tourism and the growth of yacht ownership within Asia is on the rise, especially in China, Hong Kong and Thailand.”
Traditionally a popular destination for Chinese yacht owners to keep their vessels, Hong Kong's scarcity of available berths and relatively high berthing rates, has made Phuket an attractive proposition and alternative destination for Chinese yacht owners. Phuket has world-class marina facilities with berthing and maintenance fees upto 70% less than regional competitors, and Phuket's cruising grounds are unmatched anywhere in the world.
“In terms of berthing space, Hong Kong is full. And if you can find a berth, rates can be as high as USD8,000 to USD10,000 per month for a 21 metre yacht. Phuket rates are a fraction of these, and the Island is easy to access with many direct international flights.”
Hong Kong's position as a leading financial centre in Asia and home to more than 124,000 High Net Worth Individuals (individuals with more than USD1 million investible wealth), combined with almost 800,000 HNWI's in mainland China, shows the importance of Hong Kong and China residents in the regional luxury and yachting lifestyle market.
“China and Hong Kong are key markets for Phuket due to the Island's ease of access and the stunning cruising grounds on Phuket's doorstep. We have many Hong Kong condominium owners already and the number of Hong Kong and China-owned yachts berthed in the marina continues to increase. Located centrally in the region with multiple daily flights between Hong Kong and mainland China, Hong Kong and China yacht owners see the value of Phuket's cruising grounds and want to maximise enjoyment of their yacht,” commented Mr. Lalvani.
A collection of Thai-inspired modern, luxury waterfront villas, The Royal Villas, each with direct access to their own 23 metre private yacht berth, and the Grand Villa, with its own private attached berths of 70 metres, are unique. Unlike anywhere else in Asia, owners can step directly from the comfort of their villa onto their yacht at their private mooring and be cruising within minutes, while on return they can step off their yacht directly into their villa and be poolside within seconds.
“Our Grand Villa and Royal Villas offer something unique to Asia: luxurious waterfront villa residences each with their own private yacht berth connected to the villa. Safe and secure, owners can be onboard their yacht and in one of the best cruising grounds in the world in a matter of minutes. For a yacht owner, having your yacht moored outside your villa is the ultimate luxury,” added Mr. Lalvani.
Often referred to as the Monaco of Asia, Royal Phuket Marina is a destination in its own right. The 5-Gold Anchor, 100-berth marina is complemented by a collection of award-winning luxurious waterfront villas and condominiums, and a plethora of dining and shopping options along the boardwalk.
