Many new features at the 2015 show!
Setting up of a special 100-place Test Space!
The great highlight of the Grand Pavois is direct access to the sea which favours and promotes sea trials for the many units and new features presented at the show. Created in 1973, this highlight will be even more important in 2015 with the setting up of a special space devoted specifically to trial boats. Initially presented at the end of the pontoons, in 2015, trial boats will benefit from their own marina. In concrete terms, a space with more than 100 spaces will be made available to boatyards in order to offer enthusiasts visiting the show the opportunity to discover the assets and sailing qualities of the boats presented. Development of a specific sales policy to help boatyards offer trail boats, a specific port facility to facilitate the movement (entries, exits and port manoeuvres, etc.) of boats, a reception structure placed at the entrance to the pontoon, and more. In 2015, the Grand Pavois is ensuring an entire development around this asset, which is an integral part of the Atlantic show's DNA! Enthusiasts, potential clients for boatyards and international journalists will appreciate this feature which will allow them to try and test the new features of the coming year before the winter land-based rendezvous!
Two entrances in 2015!
In order to facilitate and optimise access to halls A (Boatyards, leasing, etc.) and B (Equipment, engines and services, etc.), the Fishing Area and "La Plage", a second entrance will be installed near the western end of Hall A. A facility which will allow enthusiasts to access the Lazaret section of the show more quickly! Consequently, the arrival point for the shuttle buses, which provide visitors with a free service to and from the car parks, will be moved to between the Marilliac and Lazaret entrances, namely a more central location.
A Multihull area which is still growing
Largely developed during last year's event, when it welcomed more than 30 units and many new features, the Multihull area will reflect the same wish in 2015! This market segment has been riding on the wave of its success in recent years and has registered significant economic growth in the sector. The Grand Pavois wishes to confirm its position as the leading rendezvous for Multihulls on the Atlantic seaboard and will particularly target French, Anglo-Saxon, Spanish and Portuguese customers by communicating specifically about this market segment.
Spotlight on Ocean-Cruising!
With La Rochelle wishing to become the ideal platform for preparing so-called ocean-cruising projects (transatlantic and round-the-world events, etc.), the Grand Pavois is studying the creation of a specific Great Voyage visitor guide for 2015. The idea? To help and guide enthusiasts in the setting up of their travel project from the purchase of the boat, the equipment, the insurance, the electronics, to the cartography, and more. Conferences should even be organised in order to provide feedback from other sailors, solutions suggested by professionals, must-see destinations, and more. To be continued!
Preview of new features
More than 150 new boats are presented at the show every year, some of which are worldwide previews. With a total of more than 250 new products (boats, equipment, engines, etc.), the Grand Pavois positions itself as the reference autumn show. Every year, a large number of brands take advantage of the event to present their new features to the general public as well as to retailers, along with the associated sales offers. To that end, the Grand Pavois is developing a specific Public Relations service able to organise targeted and successful launch operations on demand!
100,000 enthusiastic visitors
The true highlight of the Atlantic show: its enthusiastic visitors. About 100,000 visitors attend the show over the 6 days. Some interesting figures: visitors come from 15 different countries and 75 French regions, 43% come to see the new features, 65% do some sailing, 43% are boat owners and 25% intend to change their boat, 17% of visitors are not owners but intend to buy a boat within the next two years (independent study carried out by La Rochelle Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
Contributions by some exceptional sailors
Sharing experience, giving advice, listening to adventure stories, and more. The Grand Pavois brings together sailors or boats with a story to tell. Thus, the show has presented to the public Corentin de Chatelperron and his Tara Tari followed by the Gold of Bengal, round-the-world boats with some incredible stories, both 60-footers, the same as those belonging to François Gabart, Roland Jourdain, Bernard Stamm and Mike Golding, Multi 50s, such as those of Lalou Roucayrol and Alain Delhummeau, Class40s such as the first outing of the Yannick Bestaven's Conservateur, classic yachts, unusual boats, such as Matin Bleu and its astonishing rigging. The Grand Pavois is a true event for enthusiasts, created by enthusiasts!
Thematic spaces for all passions
The show presents several specific areas: boats in water, boats on land, equipment halls, engines, services, inflatables and semi-rigids, etc., as well as three thematic villages, which, over the years, have become genuine references:
The Wood Village: Classic and innovative!
Created in 1989, this area offers so-called traditional boatyards the chance to present their new features and innovations, either in the water or on dry land. What with boats in strip planking and others with carbon hulls and a wooden finish and fittings, this area is designed to be the rendezvous for innovation and the so-called classical spirit. In 2015, there will be a particularly strong emphasis on the "Light Sail" theme. It should be noted that a Light Sail Challenge will be organised a few months before the event, which the Grand Pavois will echo and where a large part of the offering available around this practice will be brought together!
La Plage (Water Sports and Light Sailing Village): "the reference for board sports and water sports"
Since 2000, the Grand Pavois has also presented all other types of water sports: light sailing, kayak, board sports, windsurf, kite-surf, wakeboard, stand up paddle, etc. in its area called "La Plage". This area is laid out in the show's actual building, as well as on the Minimes beach, which has one or more basins (including the largest basin in Europe covering 500m sq. metres). Another highlight: more than 1,500 tests and demonstrations carried out, all in a sporting and festive atmosphere, the presence of many champions from different disciplines every year. The Grand Pavois can also boast of being the only show in the world to have its feet in the sand and a direct access to the beach!
The Grand Pavois Fishing (Fishing area): "the rendezvous for fishing enthusiasts"
This area, created in 2008, has become a discussion and discovery platform for enthusiasts and exhibitors, with its demonstration basin, marina, live Internet broadcasts, not to mention the professional staff of leading fishing brands present for the occasions. One of the highlights of the show: a fishing tournament with no-kill bait bringing together professionals and amateurs on a specific fleet of semi-rigids developed for the occasion! The only show in the world to offer such an installation...
Grand Pavois, what the professionals say:
Yannick Hemet/Beneteau
"The Grand Pavois is a benchmark show for French water sports and we exhibit small and medium units there with a very good return on our investment. There are always plenty visitors, which allows us to capture the clientele from the Greater Western region. This show, a barometer for the start of the season, is a must for our dealer network and launches the new water sports year on the Atlantic seaboard."
Nicolas Gardies/Fountaine Pajot
"The advantages are undoubtedly the price and the service, in a unique setting, a city culturally open to the sea. The availability, the passion and the commitment of the technical teams give the Grand Pavois a spirit that very few international shows can offer, and make the Grand Pavois a special occasion for our profession."
Yann Masselot/CNB Lagoon
"The Grand Pavois has always known how to develop great proximity with the public. The multihull sector is particularly important thanks to the dynamism of French builders. Our customers also appreciate finding our suppliers and equipment manufacturers there, who help them to obtain a global vision of their boat. A dense and complete show which meets our customers' needs."
Mai Voisard/Nautitech
"For Nautitech, the Grand Pavois is the showcase for the very varied activity of water sports and offers a unique opportunity to meet our customers on the Atlantic. On top of it all, it is a show which has remained very friendly despite its growth over the years."
Hasko Scheidt/NV Charts
"The Grand Pavois has been an excellent show for NV Charts, with many contacts and excellent promotion in a region of sailing enthusiasts who appear to appreciate our sea maps. Next year, we will again be present at the Grand Pavois, because NV Charts' ambition is to position itself in France in a sustainable and long-term manner!"
Sébastien Seydoux/SNIP Yachting
"For SNIP Yachting, the Grand Pavois is THE boat show we wait for with great impatience every year! In order to show a boat, and even more so a sea boat, it is necessary to be able to try it! And with our in-water stand, we are free to set sail all day long and show off our universe of unique products. Furthermore, since we offer good value for money, we are able to present more than one boat and it is always a great joy to come to this region and to meet high quality potential customers!"
